About me & this site
My name is Alice Neill, I am a born and bred Gloucestershire girl. I live in the very heart of the Cotswolds in a quintessential rural village called Broadwell. Growing up surrounded with home grown delights craftily created in to delicious dinners by my Dad, food, especially ‘home grown’ food has always been an essential part and way of life.
After taking a Leiths cookery course at school, I then headed to Bournemouth University to study Professional Culinary Arts as my degree. During my time at University I had various work placements and jobs in some great restaurants which further fuelled my passion for food and ultimately lead me to take my career path in to the food industry. I am currently a food development technologist working on various exciting projects for M&S. However I have always wanted to share my love for food and home grown produce and now at the start of this New Year seemed to me like the perfect time!
This blog will be about sharing my favourite seasonal recipes with produce grown and harvested from my garden as well as other various seasonal delights. Showing you how to create simple every day dinners with what is seasonal in the shops (or garden) and what you have in your store cupboards. Simple suppers are often the best. FACT.
I will publish a different recipe every week through the year to utilise what is at its best for that week/month/season and demonstrate how to make dinners, bakes, cakes, jams and preserves that will keep you nurtured throughout the changing weeks and months of the year.
‘Alice through the Year’ will be a reflection of the garden and season, bought into your kitchen and made in to tasty treats for yourself and friends and family. The blog will feature some of my friends and family too as we embrace the seasons of this year.
I hope you will enjoy this blog and that you might venture out in to the lovely world of seasonal home grown cookery. To the blog!
